Test and Tweak your Copy

Copywriting Tweaking

Have you tried to do your own copywriting yet or are you saying to yourself "i just want to learn a little bit more? Well if you have never done it before, my advisce to you is to give it a go now. What is the worst thing that can happen?

If you have a website or a blog, start to write a sales page. Find the unique selling point for your product and build your copy around that. Keep it simple. Do not lie as you main gain a sale but you will lose a customer.

Once you get your sales copy on to the net and published keep a track of the sales. If you have no or little sales you must then tweak your sales copy. Track the sales then tweak again. keep doing this until you are happy with the amount of business you are generating.

So what do I mean by tweak?

You need to try a different word here and there or change the font size or the colour of the background and so on. But only one change at a time until you are satisfied.

Did you know a copywriter added one word on a plastic bottle label and doubled sales of that product. Every other manufacturer copied this one word and doubled their sales as well. One single word, is that not the most amazing tweak in the history of copywriting.

This is what you have to do with your copy. Change one aspect of it at a time. If you change more than one and your sales increase or decrease you will not know which change made the difference.

I know what you are thinking right now. Is he going to tell us that word that doubled theses sales or not? Well yes I am as a reward for eading this article right through. The label belonged to a shampoo bottle and the label read Wash and rinse hair and the copywriter added the word "Repeat."
