Write Adverts That Sell

Write Adverts That Make The Reader Take Action

Writing a profitable advert that gets prospects to buy you product or services is not hard. It just takes a little practice.

If I was just starting I would check out every advert you see in magazines and papers and cut out the ones that grab your attention and paste them in a scrapbook. Hey, if caught your attention it will catch other peoples as well and this is the crux of a good advert.

So what makes a classified ad good or bad?

You need to grab the readers attention Most people glance over a page full of ads so there is a lot of competition out there. So why should they look at yours. The first 3 words of an ad are the most important, so they have to be attention grabbing. Try these: FREE, MAKE MONEY or WIN

The next step is hook the prospect in to reading the rest of the advert. To do this we very quickly announce other benefits before the prospect decides to leave. Easy, Simple, Make big money....We will show you how, discover the secret

In the language of the copywriter, you've grabbed the attention of your prospect, and interested him with something that even he or she can do.

Next we want initiate the desire of the prospect want to take up your offer. Often copywriters miss this important ingredient out of their adverts and a lot of sales are lost just because the prospect needs a little reassurance that this is that it is not a scam, and it is not complicated. He wants to hear that the product is Guaranteed, His money is Secure and the product has Clear Instructions and Simple to Operate

The prospect knows he has nothing to lose now and wants your product. It is time to ask for the money or as sales people put Close The Sale You need action from the buyer and he needs a small push in the right direction. Use words like Limited offer, act now, Only 100 left, First 100 customers only and Write today.

What I have just shown you is the basic advert and it comes under the age old sales rule: AIDA.....You may have heard of this before: Attention- Interest- Desire - Action .

One last point : the adverts that sell most are the ones with a name on it. So stick your name in the ad and your business address and phone number. Don't give the prospect any excuses for not buying. Be transparent and the reader will trust you and that is the ultimate goal of the salesman.

So lets try it:
